I came across this while driving back to Myrtle Beach, S.C., over the weekend on the back of a big semi in front of me on some backroads. I’m a Christian, but this seemed a bit aggressive to me. It reminds me of those old advertisements asking you to sign up for the military. Not sure this is the most effective way to get people to embrace Christianity. But maybe I’m wrong.
Um, no. I find these in-my-face offensive, much like the folks who used to haunt airports and college campuses asking "did you hear the word of the lord today?" That always made me want to say, "why yes, and she told me to ignore you."
I grew up a Christian and while I don’t know that I would say I’m not anymore, I’m definitely not religious and haven’t been for the past four years.
These kinds of things now come across to me as simply bizarre. They only have emotional resonance with people who already believe there is a God and he is retributive. Seems like it works more for keeping believers in line than converting nonbelievers.
